The eyes will gradually open wider revealing grayish blue eyes with a hazy appearance. Two and three week old puppies will be able to track objects with their eyes and judge how far away a toy or a moving object is.
At one week old puppies eyes are still closed. Generally puppies open their eyes at 14 days. A similar question is often when does their hearing start to develop. The average time required for a healthy small pup to open its eyes and catch hold of the light of the day is around 14 days.
However owners should know that the pups won t be able to see clearly at first. But even then two week old puppies won t see the world clearly. The question is when do puppies open their eyes and start this process. They may detect light and movement but they may not see details too well as their corneas are still developing.
Many pups will only open one eye for a day or so before their other eye opens. This of course is just a guideline. Most puppies begin to open their eyes at about two weeks of age. But this is the average time so sometimes puppies may open their eyes a day or two earlier or later than that.
On average puppies open their eyes 12 16 days after birth. Their open eyes continue to develop for several more weeks. It varies a bit based on breed and on the puppies themselves. It depends on the individual puppy.
During the first day of opening a newborn puppy s eyesight may not be capable yet of seeing too well. As the pups complete on the week the eyes remain closed. It will take several more weeks before their eyes. The answer is somewhere between seven days to two weeks after birth.
